Who we are
Sala Lúcida is an independent cultural space located in the former Teatro Cabildo, in the city of Buenos Aires, dedicated to exhibition, education, and development around cinema and music.
The space is led by three filmmakers: Ana Fraile, M. Laura Ruggiero, and Silvina Hermosa. It is driven by Pulpofilms and Seirenfilms, two production companies with a track record in the dialogue between cinema, research, and technological experimentation.
More than a traditional venue, Lúcida is conceived as an adaptable infrastructure at the service of contemporary creation, with a program focused on auteur, documentary, and experimental cinema. In the future, it will incorporate immersive narratives and virtual reality as part of its development.
Currently, it recovers a tradition of Latin American cinema that understands exhibition as a social practice, a space for encounter, critical thinking, memory, and community building.
Located at Cabildo 4740, in the Saavedra neighborhood, Lúcida positions itself as a regional hub for exhibition and education, where cinema becomes a collective experience once again.
The Name
Lúcida is a Spanish word that refers to a state of clarity, though not one of certainty.
It points to lucidity as a moment of awareness within an evolving process.
The name also evokes devices of vision and thought: ways of observing, recording, and projecting. In the intersection of perception, memory, and construction, Lúcida names a space where seeing implies decision, and inhabiting implies taking a position.
Community
Lúcida is activated through an open and evolving community: people who come to work, research, propose, or accompany processes at different moments.
